CIUCCIO PIROTECNICO. Strofinacci per Lanificio Leo. Il ballo del ciuccio pirotecnico è una rappresentazione tradizionale in varie località calabresi, durante la quale un uomo, con la testa nascosta in un fantoccio a forma di asino, balla a ritmo di tarantella mentre i petardi fissati al ciuccio scoppiano uno dopo l’altro, a partire dal muso per finire con le girandole sulla coda. A questa tradizione si ispira il disegno di Studiocharlie per la collezione Tipicoatipico: una nuova iconografia del souvenir, applicata come decorazione su oggetti di uso comune (book shopper, grembiule, strofinaccio da cucina, tovaglia da picnic), basata sull’utilizzo della xilografia handmade a ruggine su tessuto, effettuata con stampi in legno di pero. 2009.

/// CIUCCIO PIROTECNICO. Dishclothes for Lanificio Leo. The ciuccio pirotecnico dance is a traditional performance of many towns in Calabria. During this performance a man dances to a Tarantella rhythm with his head hidden within a papier-mache costume that resembles a donkey; this costume is covered with fireworks which explode during the dances, beginning from the snout and ending with a catherine wheel on the tail. Studiocharlie was inspired by this tradition and designed the new decoration for Tipicoatipico: a new souvenir iconography , used as decoration for common use objects (book shopper, apron, dishcloth, picnic tablecloth), based on the use of the handmade rust xylography with dyes of pear wood. 2009.
